Backup includes stuff from another database
I'm assuming this is a bug, though it's not causing me any problem. It would be a security issue in a commercial database. Backups I'm currently taking of a database I created about a month ago always include a huge entry for sys.rev.ScriptHistory, examination of which shows what appears to be an en...

Can't return to Name+Type in rel.exe
I clicked the icon to suppress the appearance of type names in column headings. That worked, but when I subsequently clicked the Name+type icon to get them back again, it didn't.

Re: Rel.exe "mydb" doesn't work in 3.009
I withdraw this complaint. I tried again shortly after posting it and suddenly all is working again. Very strange, as I didn't change anything.

Rel.exe "mydb" doesn't work in 3.009
With 3.008 and previous versions I have been invoking rel (from Rexx programs!) with an argument giving the directory name for my required database. This no longer works with 3.009. I always get the default database instead.

First save no longer remembers most recent load
It's very disappointing, in my case, to have to use ten clicks when my first Save is for saving a file I've just loaded and executed. In the old Dbrowser it took just three: click on Save in lower pane toolbar, click on Save in dialog box, click on Yes. Now I need several double clicks to get to the...

Re: Scripts previously included in package
Thanks for the replies, which are all very good as far as I'm concerned. I should have got a trade mark for D! (assuming it wasn't used already before 1994)
Your treatment of .d and .rel files dropped on to Rel.exe is just fine. Why didn't I just try it? Sorry.

Re: Invoking by double-click on .rdb file
Okay, I now see that preferences are stored in rel.reldb.org. I was being inconsistent in directories I was starting Rel.exe in. Now I'm trying to make sure I always start in the directory containing the database I'm starting with, defaulting to the Rel-provided default one. I can't think of a way i...

Invoking by double-click on .rdb file
(Shouldn't this section be renamed now that Dbrowser doesn't exist under that name?) So I eventually managed to get double-click on .rdb to work in V3.2 on Windows 10. I ran into a couple of minor problems to begin with. Both have gone away now so I don't need any fixes for them, but I thought I sho...

File type associations in Windows 10
I'm posting this in case other Rel users have run into the same problems with Windows 10. I wanted to make .rel files open in Wordpad and .rdb files in Rel.exe (not that I actually expect to be double-clicking on .rdb files). It turns out to be extraordinarily difficult to make the required associat...

Scripts previously included in package
What's happened to the scripts previously provided as OperatorsChar.d, etc.? I have successfully loaded and compiled OperatorsChar.d so I suppose the ones I used in V1.0.12 all still work, but new users won't see these and in any case I also suppose the extension should now be .rel. The change to .r...

Re: Rel.exe V1.0.14 incompatible with Dbrowser in V1.0.12
Thanks, Dave. That was a good guess, re spaces in the path to Rel.exe. I had one and I removed it and then the restore worked fine. For a backup consisting of 3186 lines that's quite an achievement. A long time ago it was a matter of self-discipline for me never to have spaces in directory or file n...

Re: Rel.exe V1.0.14 incompatible with Dbrowser in V1.0.12
Many thanks for the fixes. So far I've verified starting with a specified database by dragging and dropping the relevant directory, removal of the default database tab, and, from a Windows command line "rel d:\alldocs\AllRelDatabases\newdd". Unfortunately, my attempt to restore from a back...

Re: Rel.exe V1.0.14 incompatible with Dbrowser in V1.0.12
Thanks for the explanations and advice. Alas, the latter has not entirely helped and in any case offers suggestions that would not solve my problems. First, I removed the blanks from that directory name (which invalidated in several of my "shortcuts", grumble grumble!) but restore from bac...

Rel.exe V1.0.14 incompatible with Dbrowser in V1.0.12
I regret that I'm unable to upgrade to Rel V3 from Dbrowser V1.0.12 (excited by the new ATTRIBUTES_OF operator) for the following reasons: Rel.exe appears to have replaced Dbrowser.jar. Dbrowser allows me to specify the Rel database to work with, this being a Windows directory in which a database ei...

Re: Allowing <statement list> in places where TD grammar requires <statement>
Sorry, I seem to have misled myself concerning DO. Regarding THEN and ELSE, I worried about possible ambiguity but on reflection I agree that there probably isn't, thanks to the requirement for END IF and END CASE. Also, a statement beginning with key word ELSE ends a statement list following THEN. ...
